The Client

A private equity-owned provider of edge processing hardware and software for defense applications. The company sought to achieve ambitious five-year sales and market share targets while expanding across global defense platforms and geographies.

The challenge

The client’s private equity owners set aggressive growth objectives that required accelerated expansion across priority countries and defense platforms. Operating in a rapidly evolving threat environment with shifting customer requirements and competitive dynamics, the client needed a clear understanding of where demand would emerge and how to position its capabilities to capture that demand.

While the company held a strong technical position in edge processing, it lacked a granular, data driven roadmap to guide investment decisions, product development priorities, and potential partnership or acquisition activity. Without this clarity, leadership faced uncertainty in how to prioritize opportunities and allocate resources to support sustained growth.

The solution

The client engaged BCE Consulting to develop a comprehensive five year strategic growth roadmap grounded in rigorous market analysis and direct customer insight.

BCE built a dynamic market model to forecast total and serviceable addressable demand across 22 countries and five defense platforms. This analysis was informed by more than 170 primary interviews with senior military buyers, technical experts, and original equipment manufacturers, as well as detailed contract reviews and competitive capability assessments.

Based on this work, BCE delivered a sequenced and actionable roadmap that identified priority geographies, end platforms, and technical capability investments. The roadmap also outlined targeted partnership and acquisition opportunities aligned with the client’s growth objectives.

The results

BCE provided the client with a clear and defensible growth strategy supported by robust market data and validated customer insights. Key outputs included a dynamic demand model spanning 22 countries and five defense platforms, prioritized growth pathways, and a vetted pipeline of partnership and acquisition candidates.

Armed with this guidance, the client was able to confidently pursue expansion opportunities, align internal resources to high impact initiatives, and position the business for sustained leadership in edge processing hardware and software for defense applications.
