The Client
A leading manufacturer of commercial refrigeration systems sought to expand into services as a source of growth. Leadership wanted an objective, market-based view of which of fifteen potential service offerings were most attractive, how to enter the best opportunities, and what it would take to achieve its revenue goals.
The challenge
Service offerings can differ widely in size, growth, profitability, and fit with customer needs. The client faced fifteen possible service segments and lacked a fact-based way to compare them.
Without a consistent view of market size, growth rate, margin profile, competitive dynamics, and strategic benefit, it was difficult to decide where to focus, how to enter, and how to build a growth plan capable of meeting its revenue goals.
The solution
BCE Consulting conducted studies on fifteen service offerings, prioritized the most attractive, and developed entry strategies and a growth plan.
BCE built a service segment comparison framework in an Excel-based model, then conducted more than 150 primary research conversations to inform the prioritization.
Segments were evaluated on market size, growth rate, margin profile, alignment to customer needs, competitive dynamics, and strategic benefit to the client.
The results
BCE recommended that the client pursue two high-growth service opportunities in greater depth. BCE also developed strategies to grow the business and defined a go-to-market approach combining acquisition and internal development.
The client gained a prioritized, evidence-based path to build its services business and work toward its revenue goals.
